Don’t Overlook Cetara
Between Salerno and Amalfi lies Cetara, one of the most authentic and least touristy villages on the whole coast, and a wonderful stop on a tour from Salerno.
A working fishing village
Cetara has kept its identity as a genuine maritime community, still centred on fishing. It is especially renowned for its anchovies and for colatura di alici, a prized anchovy sauce with roots in ancient Roman garum. From the water, its cluster of houses around a small harbour, watched over by a medieval tower, feels refreshingly real compared with the busier resorts.
A taste of the true coast
For travellers who want to see the Amalfi Coast beyond the famous names, Cetara offers a glimpse of everyday coastal life and tradition.
The eastern coast, including villages like Cetara, features on our Tours from Salerno page.
