Admire the Duomo of Amalfi from the Sea

The waterfront of Amalfi, crowned by the Cathedral of Sant’Andrea, forms one of the most recognisable views on the whole coast. From the piazza it is impressive, but the perspective changes dramatically the moment you leave the harbour and look back from the sea.

A view you only get from the water

As the boat pulls away, the town reveals itself as a single cascade of pastel houses rising from the beach into the folds of the mountains, with the striped facade and bell tower of the Duomo standing out above the rooftops. It is a photograph that is almost impossible to take from land, and the soft morning light makes it especially striking.

Timing the shot

Have your camera ready shortly after departure, when the whole of Amalfi is still framed by the surrounding cliffs. Your skipper can hold position for a few moments so you can take in the scene before continuing along the coast.

See the full range of departures on our Tours from Amalfi page, or book a relaxed half-day tour to enjoy the view at your own pace.
